LCD 16×2 Pin Configuration and Its Working

 Aajkal hum aise bahut saare devices istemal karte hain jo LCD se bane hote hain, jaise CD players, DVD players, digital watches aur computers wagera. Inka istemal screen industries mein CRTs (Cathode Ray Tubes) ki jagah par tezi se badha hai.

LCD ka full form Liquid Crystal Display hota hai. Yeh ek tarah ka electronic display module hai jiska istemal bahut saare circuits aur devices mein bade paimane par kiya jata hai, jaise ki mobile phones, calculators, computers, aur TV sets wagera.

  • Pin 1 (Ground/Source Pin): Yeh display ki GND pin hai. Ise microcontroller (jaise Arduino) ya power source ke negative (-) terminal se joda jata hai.
  • Pin 2 (VCC/Source Pin): Yeh display ki voltage supply pin hai. Ise power source ke positive ($+5V$) pin se joda jata hai.
  • Pin 3 (V0/VEE/Control Pin): Yeh pin display ke contrast (aksharon ki safai) ko control karti hai. Ise ek adjustable POT (Potentiometer) se joda jata hai jo $0V$ se $5V$ tak supply de sake.
  • Pin 4 (Register Select/Control Pin): Yeh pin Command aur Data register ke beech switch karti hai. Ise microcontroller ki pin se joda jata hai. (Agar value 0 hai toh Data Mode, aur agar 1 hai toh Command Mode).
  • Pin 5 (Read/Write/Control Pin): Yeh pin display ko Read (padhne) ya Write (likhne) operation ke beech switch karti hai. (Agar 0 hai toh Write Operation, aur agar 1 hai toh Read Operation).
  • Pin 6 (Enable/Control Pin): Read/Write process ko pura karne ke liye is pin ka High hona zaroori hai. Ise microcontroller se connect karke lagatar High rakha jata hai.
  • Pins 7-14 (Data Pins): In pins ka istemal display par data bhejne ke liye kiya jata hai. Inhe do tariko se connect kar sakte hain:

    4-bit Mode: Isme sirf 4 pins (D4 se D7) ka istemal hota hai.
  • 8-bit Mode: Isme saari 8 pins (D0 se D7) microcontroller se judi hoti hain.
  • Pin 15 (+ve pin of the LED): Yeh backlight LED ka positive terminal hai, ise $+5V$ se joda jata hai.
  • Pin 16 (-ve pin of the LED): Yeh backlight LED ka negative terminal hai, ise GND se joda jata hai.

Registers of LCD

Ek 16×2 LCD mein do registers hote hain jaise data register aur command register. RS (register select) ka istemal mukhya roop se ek register se dusre mein badalne ke liye kiya jata hai. Jab register set ‘0’ hota hai, toh ise command register ke roop mein jaana jata hai. Isi tarah, jab register set ‘1’ hota hai, toh ise data register ke roop mein jaana jata hai.

Command Register

Command register ka mukhya kaam un instructions ya commands ko store karna hai jo display ko diye jaate hain. Isse pehle se tay shuda kaam (predefined tasks) kiye ja sakte hain jaise display ko clear karna, initialize karna, cursor ki jagah set karna, aur display control. Yahan commands ki processing register ke andar hoti hai.

Data Register

Data register ka mukhya kaam us jaankari (information) ko store karna hai jo LCD screen par dikhayi jaani hai. Yahan, character ki ASCII value hi woh jaankari hoti hai jo LCD ki screen par dikhai deti hai. Jab bhi hum LCD ko jaankari bhejte hain, toh yeh data register ko transmit hoti hai, aur phir wahan se process shuru hota hai. Jab register set = 1 hota hai, tab data register ko select kiya jata hai.
